Modern Throne

What—

A regal seat fit for the dimensions of an apartment.

Why—

This chair is an exploration of classical product semantics colliding with modern-day ideals. How do signals from a throne-like form change with scale, context, and material? This chair is my take on an iconic seat.

How—

Created using ambrosia maple and stainless steel screws. I chose this wood in order to soften the more geometric, cubic design. I intended to bring a lighter feeling to the other wise heavy design by creating “floating” back and seat panels— using negative space to help open the form.
