What—

A brass and steel two-finger ring designed to play off the form of brass knuckles. Upon first glance, this ring takes on an almost abstract form, however, once in use, the blunt steel “blade” is apparent.

Why—

For me, a night out requires the essentials— phone, wallet, keys, and pepper spray. My experiences as a woman have made me hyper aware of my personal safety. I created this piece in order to spark thought around ideas of self defense as a woman. A weapon disguised as an accessory— beauty contrasting brutality.

How—

The ring is made up of three separate layers and held together with six handmade rivets. The two external layers are made of brass. The internal layer includes a brass base and a steel upper, extending past the edge of the brass exterior to create the “blade” effect. The steel and brass internal layers surround two custom brass rings.
